Beams of light cast through the gaps in the trees were wonderful to look at, making the five-year-old MMO look young again. Beyond massive fields to run around and hit stuff with, we also saw the Eaves of Fangorn, which was beautiful, especially for an MMO well past its graphical prime. Though Turbine didn’t include all of Rohan because it’s way too big (seriously, the land-mass is massive), it attempted to include a nice swatch of land. You’ll meet Gandalf (the White, this time) as you dive into Rohan’s huge, varied geography, and witness the different members of the Fellowship going their separate ways. Though the past few updates have veered away from the core Lord of the Rings story a bit, Rohan brings them right back into the path of the Fellowship. The one thing that could prevent that from being exploited is that you can't remount while in combat. And, of course, the expansion comes with plenty of new narrative to explore. Range attack players arriving to a battle on a 50/60 stamina horse would be total beasts. You can trot through packs of enemy NPCs for what seems like forever before getting knocked off.
Since few players upgrade the horse's stamina, few realize how much of a damage sponge the first 20 upgrades makes a horse. Mounted combat would certainly make stamina horses more useful. Archery while mounted only had a narrow forward arc to shoot, you couldn't attack broadside, and the horse turned like a tank. Also, when you dismount, your horse remains and likes to charge into combat were it can get in your way. You can't really sustain melee combat while mounted.
The reason it was added so late, even though it's been talked about for so long since Oblivion, is it's a hard mechanic to code for.
Mounted combat came to Skyrim via patch, even if you didn't buy the dlc. guests could hit 'h' to dismount or get dismounted when owner dismounts. would be nice for guild runs when we bring along lower level guildies that havent gotten/leveled horses yet. but if you got people with maxxed +64% horses, you would get either +32 or +48 speed with a second. maybe something like half or -25% of the horses speed. Giving riders i think could work fairly easily. i fear it would not be implemented well, at least not well enough to justify the manpower to create it. In idea, mounted combat is ok, but in reality, it tends to screw the pooch.
how many people would risk a 42k (+ 12k more for upgrades) horse. SWGs wasnt so bad since you blew up there speeder and they have to buy another, but then people just bought stacks of speeders. mounted packs run around and fight when they find easy packs, then run from equal packs or when losing. Mounted pvp combat v unmounted i suspect would be magelight all over again. I used mounted combat in lotro all the time, since you could kite kill the most powerful of mobs solo. It can work similar to a segment of the final boss in Zelda Twilight Princess (1 player rides the horse and uses sword combat, the second player sits in back and uses bow combat at the same time). Or there can be another combination, this feature would make ESO so much more fun. The person riding the mount on the front can control the movement of the mount as well as swinging his/her sword at enemies, while the person riding the back can use his/her bow in arrow to shoot at enemies at the same time. If ESO combines horse combat with 2 (or more depending on the mount, if it's a flying carpet it could fit 4) people riding, the possibilities become endless. They can also make a way to limit the percentage of players in an area that will be cavalry opposed to infantry.ģ. And horse combat won't be OP as in Skyrim Dawngaurd it takes alot more precision to attack while on horse and combat its still more effective on foot than it is on horse. Infantry go take them head on, cavalry come around the back and flank them!).
This also opens more stratigic options,(ex. It can be more organized and some of those 100s of players can choose to be cavalry and ride into the battlefield on horse. PvP doesn't have to be just 100s of infantry vs 100s of infantry. This will make PvE more fun but it can also make PvP amazing.
The player riding the mount can swing his/her sword left and right or fire arrows from their bow while riding. Furthermore they should add horseback combat (or if other mounts come out they should have combat too), Skyrim Dawngaurd added this mechanic, and ESO should copy it.
ESO is a subscription based, so it's an expectation that they have the same content as a free to play if not more.Ģ. Plenty of free to play MMOs have mounts that allow for 2 or more people to ride on it of the owner of the mount allows it.
